3D Facial Recognition Arrives With the New SwitchBot Lock Vision Series

SwitchBot has officially introduced the Lock Vision and Lock Vision Pro smart deadbolts to the North American market. These new devices bring advanced biometric entry systems and native Matter over Wi-Fi support to your front door. The hardware connects directly to your local network to support Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings.

Advanced 3D Facial Recognition Arrives With the New SwitchBot Lock Vision Series

Advanced Biometrics and Privacy

The standout feature of this new lineup is the integration of structured light three dimensional facial recognition. The lock projects thousands of infrared points to create an accurate map of your face. This system successfully identifies users in less than one second even in complete darkness or while wearing accessories like glasses and hats.

The upgraded Pro model also includes contactless palm vein scanning and a dedicated fingerprint reader. SwitchBot prioritized privacy by storing all biometric data locally on the device with heavy encryption to ensure no personal information ever reaches the cloud.

Power Management and Radar Detection

The manufacturer equipped these smart locks with a dual battery system to prevent unexpected power failures. A large rechargeable battery serves as the primary power source for up to 12 months of daily use. A separate backup battery automatically takes over when the main unit runs dry to provide hundreds of emergency unlock cycles.

The hardware also utilizes a millimeter wave radar sensor. This component detects when someone approaches the door and wakes up the facial recognition cameras only when necessary to save energy. In my experience, the millimeter wave radar is an underrated feature. The keypad automatically waking up as you approach saves battery life and gives the device a cool sci-fi feel.

Pricing and Availability

These smart deadbolts feature a slim metal body design that attaches over your existing door hardware without requiring any drilling. The package includes multiple wood grain finishes to help the device blend seamlessly into your home interior.

You can preorder the standard Lock Vision for roughly 170 dollars exclusively through the official SwitchBot store. The Lock Vision Pro model is available to preorder for roughly 230 dollars through both the SwitchBot website and Amazon.
